Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 14, 2026

Overview

Welcome to the official website (the “Site”) of Common Ground for America (“commonground4america.org,” “we,” or “us”). This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and disclose information you provide when you use the Site. By using this Site, you agree that your use is governed by this Privacy Policy. We may update this policy from time to time, and we encourage you to check back periodically. Your continued use of the Site affirms your agreement to any changes we make.

Information collected and how it is collected

Voluntary information. We may collect personal information you choose to give us, including your name, email address, postal address, phone number, mobile number, and geographic location. You may provide this when you request information, register, contribute, or for other purposes. We may also collect demographic information such as occupation, employer, and ZIP code. In limited circumstances we may collect payment information, such as a credit card number, where needed to complete a transaction you have requested.

If you request information sent to your mobile phone, we may obtain your cell phone number, your carrier's name, and the date, time, and content of your messages, along with any other information you provide. We use that information consistent with this Privacy Policy.

Automatically generated information. We may also collect non-personally identifiable information generated automatically while you visit the Site, commonly called log data. This can include your IP address, the pages you viewed before and after visiting, date and time of access, domain type, the type of device you use and its unique identifier, the pages you view and links you click within the Site, and your interactions with any advertisements we or a third-party vendor deliver. This information may be gathered through technologies such as cookies and pixels. We use it to understand the general regions our visitors come from and to improve the Site.

Visitors to the Site remain anonymous unless they choose to give us their personal information.

Cookies and other technologies

We may use cookies and similar technologies when your browser accesses the Site. Cookies are small pieces of information stored by your browser. If this Site uses an analytics service such as Google Analytics, that service uses cookies to collect standard internet log information and anonymized visitor behavior data, which is transmitted to the analytics provider and used to compile statistical reports about Site activity. Analytics data is collected anonymously, and we do not link data gathered from the Site to personally identifiable information from any other source unless you submit that information yourself through a form on the Site.

Disabling cookies. The help section of most browsers explains how to stop accepting cookies, be notified when you receive them, or disable them entirely. If you block cookies, some Site functionality may not work as intended.

Web beacons. Pages of the Site and our emails may contain small electronic files, sometimes called web beacons, clear GIFs, or pixel tags, that let us count visitors to a page or recipients who opened an email, and gather related statistics such as which content is most read and whether our systems are functioning properly.

Information use and sharing

If we receive your personal information, we will use it only for the purposes described where it was collected or otherwise described in this policy. We may share that information outside of Common Ground for America when: you authorize us to; it is necessary for our service providers or vendors to deliver products or services on our behalf; it is necessary to provide the products or services you requested, including contacting you; it is disclosed, subject to applicable legal and contractual limits, to entities performing communications services for us; it is necessary in connection with a merger, reorganization, or transfer of substantially all of our assets; it is necessary for other operational purposes such as responding to your inquiries, service quality, security, fraud prevention, research and analysis, dispute resolution, or debt collection; it is necessary to protect or defend our rights or property, or those of our users; it is necessary to protect the personal safety of our users or the public; we provide it to our attorneys, accountants, auditors, regulators, or other advisors; or we are otherwise required or permitted by law, including compliance with legal process served on us or our agents.

We may also combine your information with that of others and disclose it in aggregate form in a way that does not identify you individually.

Text messaging opt-in data, consent, and related personal information collected will not be shared with or sold to any third party, except as required by law. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

Use of non-personally identifiable information. We and our service providers may use non-personally identifiable information to tailor advertising and content, predict responses to advertising, determine which messages perform best, measure and optimize effectiveness, and produce aggregate reporting for internal purposes. We use website analytics tools that require storage of web session data, with the aim of making the Site easy to use, identifying and correcting errors, and delivering more relevant content.

Third-party use of cookies. We use cookies to compile aggregate, non-identifying data about Site traffic and interaction so we can improve the Site. We may share non-personally identifiable information with vendors, ad networks, or exchanges so they can analyze user behavior or customize the advertising you see.

Third-party features

Third-party links. The Site may include links to or offers from third parties. Those vendors may use cookies or other technologies to serve advertising on other websites based on your visit here. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of websites we do not control, and we do not endorse those sites, their services, or their content.

Social media platforms. Anything you submit to our Site or to any of our pages on a social media platform — by email, posting, messaging, uploading, or otherwise — is submitted at your own risk and without any expectation of privacy. We cannot control the actions of other users on those platforms and are not responsible for content posted there. By visiting our pages on a social platform, you represent that you have reviewed that platform's privacy policy and terms of use and will abide by them.

If we offer a message board or other interactive feature on a site we administer, be aware that these areas may let you publicly post and share messages, content, or other information with other users. Although we may take precautions, we encourage you to be careful about disclosing personal information in public forums. Information you post can be collected and used by people you do not know. We cannot guarantee the privacy or safety of these areas and are not responsible for information you choose to post; your use of these features is entirely at your own risk.

Email signups

Email. We welcome your questions and comments. We will route your message to those in our organization best able to address it. We may archive your message for a period of time or discard it, but your email address and message will be used only in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

Submitting your email. Submitting your address anywhere on the Site may result in it being added to the Common Ground for America email list. You may unsubscribe at any time using the link included in each email, and your address will be removed from our list. Please allow a reasonable period for your request to take effect, as some messages may already be in process.

Suggesting the Site to a friend. If you use any feature that lets you forward a page or otherwise tell a friend about the Site, we may ask for your friend's name and email address. The Site may send that person a one-time email inviting them to visit or providing the information you requested. We store and use this information in accordance with this Privacy Policy, and your friend may contact us to request its removal from our databases.

Security

We employ and maintain technology and security measures designed to protect your personal information. However, no transmission of data over the internet can be guaranteed to be completely secure. While we work to protect your information, we cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to or receive from us.

Opt out

We may use non-personally identifiable information to provide more relevant advertising and content. If you would like to stop the Site from collecting the types of information used to tailor online advertising to you, contact us at the address below. If you opt out, we may place a cookie on your browser to record that preference. If you delete your cookies, install a new browser, or use a different device, you may need to opt out again.

You may opt out of text messages at any time by replying STOP to any message you receive from us.

Your California privacy rights

Under California law, California residents may request in writing, from businesses with which they have an established relationship, (a) a list of the categories of personal information — such as name, email, and mailing address — that the business disclosed to third parties during the preceding calendar year for those third parties' direct marketing purposes, and (b) the names and addresses of those third parties. To request this information, write to us (with a reference to California Disclosure Information) at:

Common Ground for America
2800 S Adams St, Unit 5651

We are required to respond only once per calendar year per requester.

Children

We strongly encourage parents and guardians to monitor and supervise their children's online activity. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Contributions

Common Ground for America is an independent expenditure-only political committee registered with the Federal Election Commission (FEC ID C00949586). When you make a contribution, federal law requires us to use our best efforts to collect your name, mailing address, occupation, and employer, and to report contributions aggregating over $200 in an election cycle to the Federal Election Commission, where they become part of the public record. Federal law prohibits contributions from foreign nationals, federal government contractors, and contributions made in the name of another person. Any payment card information provided is used only to process your contribution. Contributions are considered final unless they do not comply with federal campaign finance law.
